Legend Storyline

A magical adventure which features elves, demons and other mythical creatures. Darkness, the personification of evil, plans to disperse eternal night in the land where this story takes place, by killing every unicorn in the world. Although he looks unbeatable, Jack and his friends are disposed to do everything to save the world and princess Lili (who Darkness intends to make his wife) from the hands of this evil monster.

The voice of Gump ('David Bennent' (qv)) was re-dubbed by 'Alice Playten' (qv) (Blix). For the German version, the voice of Blix (Playton) was dubbed by Bennent (Gump), who also voiced himself.
Composer 'Jerry Goldsmith' (qv)'s original score was removed by the studio after the first round of test screenings. In an effort to appeal to "the kids", executives commissioned 'Tangerine Dream (I)' (qv) to create a replacement. Until 2002, Goldsmith's original score was heard only with the film's European release.
'Ridley Scott' (qv) was inspired to cast 'Tim Curry' as Darkness after seeing _The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)_ (qv). He had also considered casting 'Richard O'Brien (I)' (qv) as Meg Mucklebones.
When it came time to assemble the full director's cut, the original session masters for the 'Jerry Goldsmith' (qv) score could not be located. However, 'Mike Ross-Trevor' (qv) of Hit Factory Studios in London had kept a two-track digital copy, mixed down from eight-track session masters, which he knew "would be worth preserving." Most of these tapes contained complete takes, which had to be re-edited from scratch to match the cues in the recut print.
The face of goblin Blix (played by 'Alice Playten' (qv)) was designed after that of 'Keith Richards (II)' (qv) of 'The Rolling Stones' (qv). According to Playten, she thought up the idea, which was supported by director 'Ridley Scott' (qv). He then had 'Rob Bottin' (qv) (special make-up effects) implement the concept.
