Needful Things goofs

CONT: Brain Rusk throws apples at the windows of a house. There's a shot of the boy from inside the house and there are three small flowerpots visible on the window sill. When the apple smashes the window and knocks the pots off, the pots are different ones. One is much larger and the other is a glass jar.
CONT: When Brian Rusk takes the box of apples to the Jerzyk farm, there is a purple liner under the apples. The liner is gone in the next shot of the inside of the box.
CONT: In the opening scene, Sheriff Pangborn comes to the door of the "Dot" Restaurant. He has a band-aid around his index finger. When he gets inside of the restaurant, the band-aid has disappeared.
SYNC: One man buys a first edition, signed copy of "Treasure Island" by Robert Louis Stevenson. In later scenes, he and the little girl who stole it refer to the title as "Huck Finn" by Mark Twain. In the video and DVD release, his words are dubbed over to correct the mistake. On the television broadcast, the mistake was not corrected. This is an audio mismatch and a continuity error, depending on which version you saw.
DATE: During a flashback sequence that takes place in 1955, teenagers are driving around in a convertible as 'Jerry Lee Lewis' (qv)'s "Great Balls Of Fire" blares from the car radio. Lewis recorded, and released the song in 1956, one year after the events depicted in this scene take place.

Needful Things trivia

For its release in Germany the films title was changed to "In einer kleinen Stadt", meaning "In A Small Town".
'Buster' Keeton kills his wife with an Estwing framing hammer, easily noticed with its all-metal, one-piece construction.
The Castle Rock company distributed this film. The setting of Needful Things is a town called Castle Rock, Maine - the fictional Stephen King town that the distribution company was named after when it released _Stand by Me (1986)_ (qv) in 1986. Castle Rock was the setting for not only Stand By Me and Needful Things, but also _The Dead Zone (1983)_ (qv), _Cujo (1983)_ (qv), and _The Dark Half (1993)_ (qv).

Brian Rusk's mother appears in the longer, 3 hours version. In her sidestory she purchases sun glasses worn by Elvis Presley. She can still be seen in the cut version of the movie at the end wearing the sun glasses.
