Little Manhattan Storyline

Ten-year-old Gabe was just a normal kid growing up in Manhattan, untill Rosemary Telesco walked into his life actually into his karate class. But, before Gabe can tell Rosemary how he feels, she tells him she will not being going to public school any more. Gabe has a lot more to learn about life,love and girls.

Little Manhattan goofs

CONT: After Gabe kisses Rosemary, she says "I should go". Later that night, Gabe is replaying the scene in his head, and she says "I gotta go" instead.
PLOT: As has already been mentioned, David Betenahu was in the preschool photo with both Gabe and Rosemary, as well as being visible in the Karate class on the first day. But he is also shown playing the trombone beside Gabe when Gabe tells us about his life being filled with song, sport, and constant adventure.
FAKE: Both boards that are broken (Rosemary's and Tim's) have visible seams running down them where they are supposed to split. Tim's is very obvious. Rosemary's is more evident along the top portion of the board.
PLOT: Gabe claims that he didn't know anyone else but Rosemary on his first day of Karate class. But later when he gets partnered with David Betanahu he comments on how David has had a mustache since nursery school. And the photo shown of young David is the exact same class photo that included young Gabe and young Rosemary. Since you can spot David among the others in the first day of karate class, it can't be argued that David joined later.
FACT: If Gabe is really a native New Yorker as he claims to be, he would not pronounce the letter t in the word "often." New Yorkers say OFF-en, not off-TEN.

Little Manhattan trivia

The scene where Gabe gets in trouble for running off with Rosemary was a real event that happened to the director with his girlfriend when he was 16.
Both writers/directors are married and wrote the script within 6 weeks together.
'Charlie Ray (I)' (qv) grew so much during the shoot that, in some scenes, Josh Hutchinson had to stand on crates to keep their height differences constant in the film.
The director's mother-in-law appears as one of the guests at the wedding. She's the lady who walks pass Rosemary's parents after we see Rosemary and Gabe going to the dance floor.
In the scenes where Gabe and Rosemary are talking on the telephone, filmmakers decided not to use cordless phones because they wanted an old-fashioned feel to the movie.
