Under the Tuscan Sun Storyline

Academy Award nominee 'Diane Lane (I)' (qv) stars as 'Frances Mayes' (qv), a 35-year-old San Francisco writer whose perfect life has just taken an unexpected detour. Her recent divorce has left her with terminal writer's block and extremely depressed, and her best friend, Patti, is beginning to think she might never recover. Frances decides to take a break and she buys a villa in the beautiful Tuscan countryside and decides to begin anew. Restoring her new home, she eventually finds the fulfillment she was searching for, including love. Based on 'Frances Mayes' (qv)' memoir of the same name.

GEOG: When Frances returns to Positano to meet with Marcello, she is at sea-level. Most (if not all) busses to Positano come in from the hillside as most of the city is almost vertical along the cliffside. She would not have entered the city from the bottom and then climb, she would have to come in from the top and go down.
CONT: When Patti is lying on the bed in Frances' house, she is lying on her left side with a pillow under her head. In the next shot, she's lying supine, then reaches for the pillow to turn on her left side.
CONT: When in the cafe eating the ice cream, the ice cream changes shape from one round ball to a dollop between shots.
GEOG: Near the end of the movie, as a voiceover speaks of the Semmering Pass railway from Austria to Italy, we are shown a train of the Rhätische Bahn (or Rhaetian Railway). Except for a very short section in Italy, the RhB operates only in Switzerland; it's nowhere near the Semmering Pass.
: When Senor Martini is next to the fireplace telling Frances about the train tracks through the mountains, the box of matches behind him move around the top of the fire place.
