Last Man Standing Storyline

John Smith is an amoral gunslinger in the days of Prohibition. On the lam from his latest (unspecified) exploits, he happens upon the town of Jericho, Texas. Actually, calling Jericho a town would be too generous—it has become more like a ghost town, since two warring gangs have 'driven off all the decent folk.' Smith sees this as an opportunity to play both sides off against each other, earning himself a nice piece of change as a hired gun. Despite his strictly avowed mercenary intentions, he finds himself risking his life for his, albeit skewed, sense of honor....

I'm coming back here in ten days, and I'm gonna bring about twenty rangers with me. I will tolerate *one* gang, because that is the nature of things. A certain amount of corruption is inevitable. But if I find *two* gangs here when I get back, then in a couple of hours there will be *no* gangs here. So it's simple. One gang quits and goes home. You boys work it out. I don't give a damn which one.
John Smith: Just so long as one side leaves, or maybe one side loses.
Capt. Tom Pickett: That's fine, too, son. Kill as many as you want. Just don't kill no innocent people around here. I wouldn't like that.
Finn: I guess you'll just have to kill me.
John Smith: It'll hurt if I do.
Jack McCool: Mr. Doyle wants you to come work for us full time.
John Smith: I'm not sure he can afford it.
Doyle: Try me.
John Smith: A thousand dollars.

John Smith: And that was it. It ended about the same place where it started, out in the desert on the road to Mexico. I was just as broke as when I arrived, but something would turn up. It always does.
Capt. Tom Pickett: I'm here about a murdered policeman, got himself killed the other side of the river in some crummy little Mexican town. A few locals killed, too, and a double-dealing Commandant named Ramirez. But the man I'm concerned about was an American on the border patrol. He had a family. Well liked by his brother officers. I guess he strayed a little bit in some departments, but he was an officer of the law, just the same.

Last Man Standing goofs

FACT: Smith carries two Colt 45. s that hold 7+1 rounds or 14+2 rounds. Smith fires way more bullets than that.
FACT: At the second to last battle at the Strozzi place, you can see John's 45. The action goes back and locks several times, and yet, he still fires when it is back.
FAKE: When Jacko slams the double doors shut on the room where the captured and beaten John Smith is being held the locks are visible on the John Smith side of the doors. Later the locks are shown, properly, on the opposite side.
CONT: At the very beginning of the movie there is a shot of Smith driving towards town and there is nothing but desert. In the next scene we see power poles following the road into town.
CREW: (From 1:13:30 to 1:13:40) In the opening scenes of "Ira, You Are The Man", the sprinkler system used to make it rain has two of the sprinkler heads and piping clearly visible at the top of the screen where the lightning is flashing.
